Melo Game-Winner Lifts Blazers Over Toronto

Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points on Tuesday night, including a 17-foot jumper with four seconds remaining to break a 99-99 tie and secure a win for the Blazers over Toronto. The 28-point explosion was the most Melo has scored in a game since joining Portland, and his eighth 20-point night this season.

The future Hall of Famer shot the ball well from all over the floor, going 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and 10-for-17 overall. He also made all three of his free-throw attempts and added seven boards.

Before Carmelo Anthony came to town, the Portland Trail Blazers were 5-10 through their first 15 games. Since he strapped on the No. 00 jersey for the Blazers in mid-November, he’s helped the team from going completely off the rails and they’re still very much alive in the playoff race at 16-22.

Melo is currently averaging 16 points and six rebounds per game in 31.7 minutes per night.
