Report: Jeff Fisher a “Potential Target” For SEC’s Vanderbilt
Jeff Fisher hasn’t coached a winning season on any level since 2008, but that hasn’t stopped programs from keeping him in mind.
According to ESPN college football writer Adam Rittenberg, Vanderbilt has deemed Fisher a target if they move on from their current head coach, Derek Mason. Now in his sixth season in Nashville, Mason is yet to lead Vandy to a winning record.
I’m told former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher is a potential target for Vanderbilt. Fisher remains popular in Nashville, and new Vanderbilt athletic director Malcolm Turner wouldn’t hesitate to make a nontraditional hire.

The last time Fisher stalked a sideline was in 2016 with the Los Angeles Rams. In five seasons, he racked up a 31-45-1 record and never has a winning season. He does deserve some credit for easing the Rams transition from St. Louis to Los Angeles, however.
Fisher has never held a coaching position in the college ranks.
Though he wasn’t mentioned by Rittenberg, Trent Dilfer recently took over a high school football team in Nashville and could be another non-traditional hire.
