Reports: Cardiac Arrest Caused G-League Player To Collapse On Court During Game
During the Grand Rapids Drive’s season-finale against the Long Island Nets, second-year player Zeke Upshaw collapsed to the ground after playing 28 minutes. Upshaw, who scored 11 points in the Drive’s 101-99 win, fell to the floor with 12 seconds remaining in the game and was taken to Spectrum Health Hosptial, per M Live.
Wood TV8, the Grand Rapids NBC affiliate, cited cardiac arrest as the reason why he went down.
Per their release:
Zeke Upshaw was defending an opposing player with less than a minute to go in the fourth quarter when he collapsed. He was carted off the court and taken to an area hospital via ambulance.
A source says he was in cardiac arrest and was last reported to be in critical condition.

Upshaw played three marginal seasons for Illinois State — averaging 1.6 points across 6.1 minutes per game — before finishing his career with a bang at Hofstra. In his lone season with the Pride, he started all 33 games and averaged 19.8 points per game.
Grand Rapids, the Detroit Pistons G-League affiliate, clinched a playoff berth with the win.
