RG3 Gets in the Action Alongside Lamar Jackson vs. Bengals
RG3 has had a nice second act as the immediate backup to Lamar Jackson in Baltimore. He humbled himself by accepting the role in 2018, and the franchise appreciated him enough to extend a two-year, $4 million deal this offseason.
Lamar Jackson hasn’t needed much backing up this season. The only action Robert Griffin III has received was in Week 1 when he was a perfect 6-for-6 with a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins.
Against the Cincinnati Bengals, though, the coaching staff worked RG3 into the gameplan, using him on an option play with Jackson.

Because Jackson pitched it back to Griffin beyond the line of scrimmage, it went in the scorebook as nine rushing yards without an actual carry. It worked great and may be a look they’ll explore later this season.
All three players in the backfield, it should be noted, won Heisman Trophy awards — RG3, Jackson, and Mark Ingram.
Up 49-10 in the fourth quarter, the Ravens turned to Griffin for mop-up duty QB action.
