Ricky Rubio is Dropping Dimes Like Crazy in December

Last season, the Phoenix Suns didn’t get their 11th win until January 12th. This year, the Suns already have 11 wins and it’s only December 9th.

One of the biggest reasons for their improvement is the veteran leadership point guard Ricky Rubio has brought to the team. Rubio always keeps the ball moving on offense and he can keep up with the fast-paced play of backcourt-mate Devin Booker.

Rubio has been especially solid since the calendar turned to December, putting up monster assist numbers while limiting turnovers. It’s no surprise the Suns are above .500 in five December games.

In their five games this month, Rubio has had a double-digit assist total in all but one game, and the one where he failed to reach double digits was a nine-assist game. Plus, he’s had two games without turnovers this month, as well as two games with four steals and it’s all been done in 34.5 minutes per game — the most minutes per game for Rubio in any month this season.
