Sports and Entertainment World Mourn Deaths of Kobe & Gianna Bryant
Today is an awful day for the entire world, not just the sports world. Kobe Bryant was an icon that went beyond basketball. He was the Black Mamba, someone who taught the world to approach their craft — whatever it may be — with relentless hard work and focus.
Per Woj, Bryant was traveling with his daughter, Gianna, on a helicopter on their way to a youth basketball game. Everyone on board tragically passed away. It was initially reported that five people perished but later reports revealed nine people passed away in the accident.
It’s not supposed to happen this way, the news another reminder of how precious life is. So many are mourning right now for Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and the others who saw their lives end way too soon.

If you're wondering what a very intense [oh my God, this can't be] moment feels like. If you were too young for JFK, or Len Bias, or Challenger, or 9.11, this is p-r-e-c-i-s-e-l-y what it feels like. #KobeBryant pic.twitter.com/yqOA51Qc5D

Kobe was a legend on the court and just getting started in what would have been just as meaningful a second act. To lose Gianna is even more heartbreaking to us as parents. Michelle and I send love and prayers to Vanessa and the entire Bryant family on an unthinkable day.

Trae Young fought back tears as he spoke about the last conversation he had with Kobe.
He said Kobe told him he was proud of how much he's seen his game progress, and to continue to be a role model for kids growing up and for Gigi. pic.twitter.com/fhus29cdN5
