The Ringer Has Four Shows Nominated at iHeartRadio Podcast Awards
The Ringer has four different shows up for nomination at the first-ever iHeartRadio Podcast Awards.
When Bill Simmons left ESPN, there was a lot of question marks as to what his next move would be. And then when his HBO show (Any Given Wednesday) didn’t live up to the hype, some treated it like the sky was falling. But the one thing you must realize about Bill Simmons is that he is a renaissance man; there’s never one project.
Less than two years later, Bill Simmons has proven that his failed studio show was an outlier in the grand scheme of things. While everyone else was slinging shit, Simmons was quietly plotting a new-and-improved version of his Grantland website — now known as The Ringer.
After piling up a mix of young talent, experienced media personalities, and celebrities, The Ringer is the gold standard when it comes to sports and culture branding. The site, now aligned with Vox Media, has the community feel of a barbershop while also forcing you to use your brain.
Although written words come in bulk on any trip to the site, they’re miles ahead of competitors when it comes to podcasting. Sure, everyone has a podcast these days but The Ringer has like 30 of them and they’re all above average. Some, it’s been verified, are at the very top of their respective category.

Four different shows from The Ringer’s catalog received nominations for the iHeartRadio Podcast Awards. In podcasting, that’s like the Wu-Tang Clan or Death Row getting four Grammy nods.
Two of their sports podcasts (The Bill Simmons Podcast and Against All Odds with Cousin Sal) were honored in the Best Sports Podcast category while House of Carbs got a nod for Best Food Podcast and Bachelor Party got the same for Best Entertainment Podcast.
All nominees can be found here. There are over 20 categories up for grabs and you can vote up to five times every day on each award. Get out there and vote!
