Unbelievable: UVA Basketball Has Upcoming 30 for 30 on ACC Network

Not long after the UVA basketball team won the national title over Texas Tech, I remember my girlfriend saying she wished there was a 30 for 30 documentary about their run. I told her that these things take a while and that she’d have to wait a few years.

I was wrong.

The ACC Network is just days away from airing Unbelievable: Virginia’s Improbable Path to a Title, an hour-long documentary that features first-hand accounts from all the key UVA basketball figures that brought the school their first-ever NCAA Tournament Championship.

“Coach Bennett and his team did what many thought was unthinkable – rebounding from a devastating loss to capturing a series of dramatic tournament wins on the game’s biggest stage. We are delighted to tell this inspiring story on ACCN, and are thankful for Virginia’s generosity in letting us do so,” said Stacie McCollum, senior director of programming and acquisitions.

The film will air at 8:00 P.M ET on Wednesday, October 30th on ACC Network, a week before Virginia opens the 2019-20 season against Syracuse in a game that will also be on the new 24/7 channel dedicated to ACC sports.

The three main stars from the title run — Kyle Guy, Ty Jerome, and De’Andre Hunter — all give their accounts on the improbable run in Unbelievable. Current head coach Tony Bennett and players Mamadi Diakite and Kihei Clark also make appearances.
