UVA Basketball Has ‘Bubbleville’ Opponents Switched at Last Minute

Due to COVID-19 concerns within the programs of Virginia’s first two opponents — University of Maine and University of Florida — the team will have new opponents to start the ’20-21 season. The Hoos will now open their season against Towson on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., replacing the Maine game, and against San Francisco on Friday at 11:30 a.m., replacing the Florida game.

Both games will be in ‘Bubbleville” at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.

Virginia opens the ’20-21 season as the No. 4 team in the country, though KenPom has them at No. 16. They return starting point guard Kihei Clark and starting big Jay Huff, while welcoming in highly-touted transfer Sam Hauser (Marquette) and four-star recruit Jabri Abdur-Rahim, son of former NBA All-Star Shareef Abdur-Rahim.

According to Bennett Conlin of The Daily Progress, the Virginia-San Francisco game will air nationally on ESPN.
