5 Virginia Teams Make NCAA Tournament Field; Richmond Headed to NIT

Five teams from Virginia made the 2021 NCAA Tournament field of 68, highlighted by the Virginia Cavaliers. The No. 4 Wahoos earned the highest seed of the five Virginia programs and join a Commonwealth-loaded West Region that also features No. 10 VCU and No. 16 Norfolk State. The Rams and Cavaliers earned at-large bids while Norfolk State won the MEAC.

Virginia Tech, also an at-large bid earner, was placed in the South Region at No. 10 while nearby Liberty, the ASUN champs, snagged the No. 13 seed in the Midwest Region. Virginia teams will be in action each of the tournament’s first three days (Thursday-Saturday).
