Fresh off two of his most critically-acclaimed performances, Vince Vaughn is taking another step into dramatic acting. On Wednesday, it was announced that Vaughn would join Kristen Stewart and Anthony Mackie in Benedict Andrews’ new film Against All Enemies. Vaughn will play FBI agent Carl Kowalski, the gentleman in charge of surveillance on Stewart’s character Jean Seberg.

Inspired by true events, Kowalski and his team are after Seberg because of her involvement with the Black Panther Party.

Per Deadline:

“Seberg, an American actress who spent half her life in France, was a darling of the French New Wave. Because of her political and romantic involvement with civil rights activist Hakim Jamal, she was also a target of the FBI’s attempts to disrupt, discredit and expose the Black Power movement.”

Anthony Mackie (Detroit, The Hurt Locker) will play Hakim Jamal.

Vaughn’s most recent roles — Hacksaw Ridge and Brawl in Cell Block 99 — are among his best ever. In fact, of his three highest-rated movies on Rotten Tomatoes, they’re No. 1 (Brawl in Cell Block 99) and No. 3 (Hacksaw Ridge) — Swingers is No. 2.

Benedict Andrews is coming off a success of his own with Una, a film starring Rooney Mara and Riz Ahmed. It currently holds a 76-percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Against All Enemies was written by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse — the team who wrote Race (61-percent on RT).
