Washington Capitals Game 7 History in the Ovi Era

In sports, there are few things I like more than a Game 7. Really, any do-or-die scenario gets my blood pumping but a Game 7 is do-or-die for both sides, and it’s one of the greatest rushes a fan can experience. When Game 7 is in your hometown, that just amplifies everything even more.

That’s where we find ourselves with the Washington Capitals as they host a feisty Carolina team tonight in Game 7 of their first-round series. Starting at 7:30 P.M ET, all eyes will be on D.C.’s Capital One Arena; the Caps-Canes game is the only Stanley Cup Playoff game on Wednesday’s schedule.

NBC Sports Network will broadcast the event nationally.

Not surprisingly, the Caps are a slight favorite at -155, per ESPN, and if the series goes the way it has been, our boys will be moving on. I say that because through six Caps-Canes playoff games this year, the home team has won every time.

But Game 7 is always different. Nothing, as you know, is guaranteed. With that, I think it’s important to look at Washington’s history in Game 7s since Ovi came to town.
