The Ringer’s Shea Serrano Went All Creed Bratton With A WNBA Crusade On Twitter

Shea Serrano, a guy who has seen his profile grow tremendously over the last few years, went (and is currently) on a crusade to push WNBA basketball — literally, anyone who will listen is fair game. It started with an article he published on The Ringer, alerting the masses that the WNBA season was ready to kick off. When he published it, which is about 15 hours ago at the moment, he said it was “the best thing” he had ever written.

From there, Serrano unleashed an onslaught on Twitter pumping the WNBA League Pass. (Only $17…can’t go wrong, right?)

Most of his followers, however, had no team to turn to. Serrano, himself, didn’t either. So, just like I do every NHL season, it was time to jump on a bandwagon. The lucky franchise? The expansion Las Vegas Aces.

That was enough for his fans. It was an Aces’ timeline from there on out.

Some people got pissed he was flooding their timelines with WNBA tweets, but that didn’t stop the crusade. Serrano acknowledged the flood, apologized for it, then kept it rolling.

One dude who got pissed at Shea’s WNBA frenzy — my dog’s name is Shea, btw — was promptly dunked on.

Then the folks on the inside came calling. Like, the real inside. Like, the WNBA Twitter account.

Andddddd, this went on for like six more hours. Every picture sent of a WNBA League Pass confirmation was greeted with Serrano fanning the flames. The WNBA Twitter account wound up retweeting Serrano like five times. It was incredible.

Now, I’m not certain, but am also 100-percent certain that today’s influx of subscriptions from the Serrano Army was the most the WNBA has ever received in one shot. He wouldn’t take it or anything but he deserves a commission for his efforts. A jersey, I imagine, would suffice. It’s superrrr hard to get people pumped for women’s basketball, yet this guy did it in a day’s time. Now, let’s support him (and, of course, Creed Bratton) by watching some WNBA hoops.
