WWE’s Smackdown Live Will Move to Fox in October 2019

In a new groundbreaking deal, WWE and Fox have come to terms to move Smackdown Live from USA (owned by NBC Universal) to Fox in October 2019.

The move is a groundbreaking one that has been in the works for quite some time. After NBC Universal gave their first right of refusal, this seemed to be the clear path.

WWE is a prized commodity to the number of weekly viewers their content promises, especially in a time where viewers are at such a premium.

Smackdown Live currently averages 2.59 million viewers per week.

The story, which was broken by ESPN, is still missing some pieces (WWE and Fox have yet to make statements), however.

Whether or not Smackdown Live will air on Fox or Fox Sports 1 is one strong topic for debate, one that will highlight exactly how the company views their newest commodity.

What does this now mean for Raw, which brings in 3 million viewers? Is it a lock to join Smackdown Live on Fox? One would think so, but we’ll see.

The price was supposedly a massive one, but what does that mean exactly? What was paid for WWE’s “second show?”

All of that will come out in due time, but for now, the future looks brilliant for Smackdown Live.

With wrestlers like AJ Styles, Asuka, Daniel Bryan, Charlotte Flair, Shinsuke Nakamura, and the Miz, there is plenty of star power and wrestling talent to thrive as a supposed “B” show.

And with a new network with more sports-related content and content geared for a younger audience, it should be a seamless transition and looks to be a better fit than forced between one of the various CSI shows and Chrisley Knows Best.
