Another Team Removed From 2020 TBT For Positive COVID-19 Test

The Jackson TN UnderDawgs were forced out of the 2020 TBT after a player tested positive for COVID-19. In a statement on their Twitter account, they said “the TBT disqualified the entire team from participating” once the test arose.

D2 will fill in for Jackson TN, taking their No. 24 seed. D2 will now play the tournament’s first game (July 4, 3pm ET) against No. 9 seed Big X. The D2 team is made up of multiple Division-II all-stars and has one TBT win in their team history.

The UnderDawgs have been involved in the TBT for a number of years, including 2016 when they upset a No. 1 seed as a No. 16 seed. They were labeled as “the most close-knit team in TBT history” last year since half the team went to the same high school and all are from the same city.

D2 was on standby, just like Playing for Jimmy V, who replaced Best Virginia after their own positive COVID-19 test. Another team is on standby going into the tournament in case there are more positive tests — the Peoria All-Stars.

UPDATE: A third team, Mid-American United, is being replaced by Primetime Players due to a positive COVID-19 test.
