On Sunday, the Cleveland Cavaliers narrowly avoided a 3-1 hole against the Indiana Pacers with a 104-100 win at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. If you tuned in, then you know it was an amazing game. And if you tuned in, then you helped the game earn the best first-round cable television rating since 2012.
The game, which aired on TNT, pulled in 6.1 million viewers and a 3.7 rating (per Sports Media Watch). It should be noted that this was only Game 4 while the 2012 rating that trumps them was a Game 7 (Nuggets/Lakers in 2012). That game, a 96-87 win by the Lakers, brought in 6.5 million viewers.
Of all the games on Sunday, Cavs-Pacers was by far the best in terms of NBA TV ratings. The Spurs-Warriors game (on ABC) brought in a respectable 5.5 million while Celtics-Bucks (3.7 million) and Raptors-Wizards (3.2 million) were much further behind.
