George Mason Homecoming Game Could Make History
The George Mason homecoming game against Duquesne on Saturday could result in a feat never before accomplished by the Patriots’ basketball team.
Although their last game was a disappointment — Sunday at St. Bonaventure — the George Mason Patriots have a chance to make history on Saturday at home against Duquesne.
The Patriots have competed in the Atlantic 10 Conference since the 2013-14 season. During that time, they’ve had some big wins but just average success overall; on Saturday, however, that can change as they have a chance to secure their first-ever winning season in the A-10.
George Mason Atlantic 10 Records By Season:
- 2013-14:Â 5-12
- 2014-15: 4-14
- 2015-16: 5-13
- 2016-17: 9-9
- 2017-18: 9-9
Going into Saturday’s game, the Patriots are tied for third place in the Atlantic 10 with a 9-4 record. Dayton is also 9-4 while VCU (11-2) is No. 1 and Davidson (10-3) is No. 2. A win will ensure their first winning record in the A-10 and give them their first season with double-digit wins (in conference) since joining the league.
The game, which is slated for a 4:00 P.M ET tip-off, should see one of the biggest crowds of the season because it’s the centerpiece to George Mason homecoming week. If you’re not able to see it live at Eagle Bank Arena, the game will be streaming nationally on ESPN+.
