J.R. Smith to Wear #21 With Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers roster features four current or former all-stars, multiple NBA champions, all-defensive team guys, all-rookie guys, and just about every other accolade out there. Simply put, they’re stacked. On Wednesday, they added yet another guy with an impressive resume — J.R. Smith — for the stretch run. Smith won a title with current Lakers star LeBron James in Cleveland and has a Sixth Man of the Year award in his trophy case.

Smith, who’s taking the roster spot of Avery Bradley, will wear No. 21 with the Lakers. It’s the first time he’s ever worn No. 21. Los Angeles will be his fifth team. He’s worn No. 1, No. 5, No. 8 and No. 23 during his career.

Bradley won’t be rejoining the team when they go to Orlando, citing family reasons. The Lakers will also get their first look at Dion Waiters when play resumes. He was signed in early March right before the season was shut down. Waiters has averaged 13.2 points per game in 412 career games.

All 17 spots are currently filled on the Lakers roster.
