Overall they shot 46.9 percent from beyond the arc (15-for-32) while holding Towson to just 5-of-19 shooting from deep. Lewis, a senior, scored 20 of his 30 points in the first half and finished with eight assists.

Other double-digit scorers for JMU were Vado Morse (18), Justin Amadi (11), and Jalen Hodge (10).

“This was a good start to league play,” James Madison head coach Mark Byington said via JMU Sports. “I was really proud of the guys – they showed growth today.”

Several of the Dukes’ conference games were canceled due to COVID-19 concerns in the lead-up to Saturday’s showdown. Some CAA teams already have five conference games in at this point. Next weekend, James Madison (6-4, 1-0) will play a pair of CAA games on the road against Northeastern.
